Our pit master has perfected the art of slow-smoking over many years, understanding that great BBQ can't be rushed. This dedication to craft is applied to everything we serve, from our signature pork belly bites to our handcrafted sausages made from our own brisket trimmings.

Owner + Man Behind the Smoke

With over two decades in the culinary industry, Jeff brings passion, experience, and serious flavor to the table. His journey began with nothing more than a backpack and a dream when he landed in Colorado, chasing something bigger than himself and he found it in food.

Jeff has owned and operated several beloved local spots including JBS Café, JBS at The Feedstore, JBS at the Royal Gorge Taphouse & Grill, Mountain Pass Panini, and Lil Smokeys BBQ. His impressive background also includes high-end hospitality work at the iconic Broadmoor, where he honed his craft as a bartender, mixologist, sommelier, and server.

Though he never imagined running a BBQ joint, Jeff believes the smoke found him. As he puts it: “I never envisioned a BBQ joint, but it came looking for me… because someone had to do it right.”

When he’s not behind the grill, you’ll find him fishing, hiking Colorado’s mountain peaks, disc golfing, or smoking meats just for the fun of it.

With over 15 years in the restaurant industry as both a manager and bartender, Emily brings heart and hustle. Drawn in by her love for great food and impressed by the care and dedication Jeff put into the business, she knew she wanted to be part of something rooted in quality, care, and genuine hospitality. 

These days, she’s the one juggling the behind-the-scenes action, coordinating daily operations, running social media, and designing graphics. She’s also the friendly voice on the other end of the phone, ready to answer questions, book catering, and create a warm, welcoming experience for every customer.

When she’s not running the behind the scene show, you’ll find her in her element painting, sewing, camping, hiking with her family, or relaxing down by the river. She’s an outdoor enthusiast through and through, and her passion for life shines in everything she does.

Conveniently located at Rainbow Plaza Food Truck Court in Salida (645 E Rainbow Blvd), Lil' Smokey's BBQ + Catering serves as the hub for authentic Texas-style BBQ throughout central Colorado. From this strategic location, our team delivers mouthwatering Post Oak smoked meats to events across Salida, Cañon City, Leadville, Buena Vista, and surrounding mountain communities. You'll also find us traveling to other locations during special events.

With catering packages designed to serve groups from 10 to over 200 guests, we are the best food (and value) for any event. Whether you're planning a corporate gathering, wedding reception, family reunion, or community celebration, we'll provide the the most-delicious BBQ in Colorado to make your event memorable.

Availability depends on event size and scheduling, so we recommend contacting us early to secure your preferred date with a 50% deposit.
